Kat-Morning

This is possibly the most un-updated journal on the planet... I'll try to do better.  Though, at this point "better" would be updating more than once every few years. So, posted second ever coloring project today, and I can actually see improvement.  This makes me happy.  (and makes me talk like I'm five, apparently.  Oh well, just roll with it.)  I've discovered I really like coloring, even if it didn't fulfill it's expected role of giving me something mindless to do while I try and untangle story lines in my needlessly-complicated novels.  It takes too much concentration for that, and I end up losing track of time. No, seriously.  I lose

My use of reference pictures will probably shatter if I keep taking on projects like this current one. I'm finally getting around to sketching out some thing resembling a profile picture for myself.  (read: highly fantasy-ized verision of my "Kat" persona.)  It's been an interesting experience to say the least.  First off, I'm still one of those who's dependent on references.  I'm getting better with basic forms and wire frames, but I still like having something to guide my eye a bit. Not to say I'm a good artist, I'm not, but I'm marginally better each drawing.  Counts for something to me. Anyway ... there are very few pictures of people

Why do my characters do this, anyway?  Chapter two of Blood Ties is coming along pretty well now.  Then again ... characters keep popping in unexpectedly!  Four have shown up independent of my original draft now.  Janus has shown up!  Granted, he just walked by, but in the first draft he didn't show up  at all until chapter nine! In a way, this is a good thing.  It shows that this other world is always present, even if it isn't always noticed as being magical. However, I think his enterance here is a bit ham-fisted.  Too much "look at me!  I'm going to be important later!  Look!  Look!".  So, I'll have to make a note to see if I can't make
